Getting Botox
SO the time has come! I finally decided I wanted to try out some botox in my face. I researched for highly recommend places in Austin and came across Saving Face. I reached out to see if they’d want to work together on a video for you all and they were generous enough to gift me my botox in my face as well as my underarms and I got to amazing opportunity to video this whole process..
I started with a consult with Lisa to talk about what I wanted and what I didn’t want. I’ve only had botox in my armpits (for hyperhydrosis aka excess sweating) before not my face so I definitely had a lot of questions. I still wanted to have expression but wanted to soften everything. Lisa recommended “baby botox” on face. So less units just to help keep muscle from moving and creating that line. She also recommended evening out my eyebrows because 1 eyebrow was higher than the other. We also discussed putting some botox in my underarm again. I have always been a “sweater.” Even when it’s cold I sweat and its caused my to not be able to wear colored shirts or certain styles because the sweat is so much. The botox helps block the sweat from that area but the sweat has to escape somewhere so you’ll sweat more in other areas. The sweat moving and releasing from other areas has not bothered and I def think this procedure is so worth it if you have hyperhydrosis. We agreed on what look I wanted and she said the whole process would only take about 25 mins and there’s no downtime.
BELOW IS PRE-BOTOX. You can see the lines in the corner of my eyes when smiling and my slightly uneven brows as well as wrinkles in forehead.
I arrived for my Botox visit and Lisa and her team went over everything and applied numbing cream to my eye area and underarm but not my forehead. We started in forehead and glabella area and I was so surprised at how it felt like nothing! Sometimes you’d feel the slightest pinch but overall painless. She also switched needles periodically because it helps from a dull needle causing more pain. They iced each area after a shot. The underarm area definitely is more sensitive as far as feeling shots or “pain” but overall its so minor. The underarm required the most amount of units and takes the most time. Face took 7 mins maybe and underarm took 15. Again, super quick when it comes down to it.
UNITS USED:
Glabella area- 15 units
Forehead- 10 units
Crows feet- 8 units
Underarm- 50 units
POST BOTOX. You can see the crows feet are softened as well as forehead lines. I still have expression but it just took the edge off. Didn’t put any edit or smoothing on any of these photos. Completely raw because wanted to show true skin and results.
As far as time that it lasts it truly depends on the individual. Some people have faster metabolisms and burn through product quicker. Typically it should last 3-4 months. I’ll keep you all updated after the 3 month mark.
I definitely love the results that botox provides as a preventative for future wrinkles. It’s a personal chose and I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while and am so glad I did. I plan on continuing when needed and if you’re in Austin definitely check Lisa out Saving Face. Use code LV ATX for 10% any fillers or botox.
