1 Day in Marfa

Hey everyone,

I recently have been super busy with More Human and finally took a vacay and am so excited to share. Charlie and I recently road tripped and we planned to go through Marfa for 1 night. We heard about this place because of the famous Prada shop art installation in the middle of the desert. I also wanted to shoot a bunch of creative looks here and Marfa definitely is photo-op perfect!

We chose to stay at El Cosmico because its definitely an instagrammers dream. A desert RV/teepee/camp ground and they happened to also have a custom tiny home built in partner with an artist and we snagged it for the night! It’s the coolest and most well designed tiny home i’ve ever seen. I would so recommend it for a quick stop on your roadtrip. Also, if you’re a camper this place is perfect as well with tons of space and land to spread out and relax. We had a shower and fridge and all the goods inside our tiny home, but the other properties have outdoor showers and amenities spread out and all facilities are well managed. The property has dutch tub sessions for purchase (which we did one night and I wouldn’t recommend because we had kind of a weird experience including screaming kids), a store to shop the CUTEST clothes and accessories and snacks, a hammock garden area for lounging, and photo opportunities on every corner. Each trailer on property is so colorful and full of charm. As far as food, there’s not much around tbh. We snacked mostly and did try what’s considered the “best breakfast spot” but we didn’t have any luck here. Also, tried to stop at a pizza place that was suppose to be open and we arrived to a closed pizza shop. Just remember when you go here it’s literally the middle of the desert and not much around. Bring snacks or go to local dollar general and stock up.

We also did stop at the Prada store obviously which was SO SO SO cool. Been dreaming of going here for about 5 years now and was so excited to make it out here. Do it for the gram right?!

For me, I knew 1 night would suffice and I could capture the town the way I wanted to in that amount of time. I definitely loved the charm of this desert town and would recommend giving it a stop. It’s pretty unique that there’s so much quirkiness and art in the middle of nowhere. I loved getting away and disconnecting and think El Cosmico is a fun addition to any road trip. Safe travels and happy summer humans!

XO,
Ashlee Rose
